New listings will be featured on the RSS feed and on this home page. They will be cleared from the homepage monthly but will remain on the RSS feed.

Some participants in the alt.comp.freeware Usenet newsgroup combine their knowledge and experience to compile a yearly list of what they consider the best of the best in freeware. LastPass is a secure userid/password manager and form filler for Internet Explorer or FireFox. It is better than any free password manager and automation I've ever used. It can also be accessed from any computer, as it uploads encrypted files to lastpass.com though you are the only one with the key. It is secure and LastPass does not have the key or access to your passwords. Do not forget your LastPass password, as LastPass can only supply you with the password reminder phrase you give them.

PicPick Tools is a powerful screen capture tool with scrolling capture, image editor, color picker, color palette, pixel ruler, protractor, crosshair, whiteboard and etc. Also a portable program. For a long time Faststone Screen Capture (no longer under development) was the only free screen capture program that could capture scrolling windows as well. A link to the last freeware version is on the 2008 Pricelessware List. PicPick Tools is now a great free alternative with more functionality.

ZSoft Uninstaller has come a long way to V2.4.1. It Analyzes an installation so it can be completely uninstalled. It Lists all installed programs, Lists programs it monitored, Outputs installation log, Options to select monitored registry areas, Options to ignore selected registry areas during monitored install, Tree view of installed registry keys and files, Easy removal of sections of installation log, Delete entries from programs that are no longer installed, Hide entries from the list that you are never going to uninstall (drivers etc.) making the list smaller and therefore easier to manage, Automatically find entries from programs that are most likely already uninstalled, and Automatically find entries that are considered crap-ware. This program has outgrown my previous favorite which is no longer supported-Total Uninstall.
