Just testing a discuss bot for the JoomlaBoard forum component. A client asked if there was a way to comment on blogs using the forum instead of a blog comment system like akoComment special edition, such as this site uses. and if this works I won't have to write something to do it. Here is what I see as the pros and cons of using the forum for blog and article comments: Pros: All threaded discussion for both articles and regular forum posts is consistent and in one place. Cons: I don't think the JoomlaBoard component has a captcha plugin (like the akoComment bot does), which is a must if you are going to allow anonymous posts, otherwise spambots will post all kind of porn advertisements as comments. So now to comment on a blog a user must be logged in. Need to check to see how easy it is to add captcha and anonymous posts to the forum. Discuss this article on the forums.
